Wind and metal, stone and dust

Emerging from stone; turning to dust

The Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Artists Travel Scholarship was awarded to Penelope Cain in 2018. With the installation: Emerging from stone; turning to dust

The installation contains two lines of sight around money and land- The quasi-totemic Money Tree and the video, Magical Thinking (Supply Side Economics) consider the belief systems and economical magical thinking that underpins fiat currency economics broadly and Macquarie’s official currency mutilation specifically

transforming one coin into two. Macquarie Bank subsequently appropriated the Holey Dollar as its logo, celebrating this singular innovation and profit.
